Trial Set For Iowa Woman Accused Of Murder

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A jury trial has been set for a woman accused of killing a man at a Des Moines hotel earlier this year.

The Des Moines Register reports that the first-degree murder trial of 35-year-old Stephanie Renee Moses, of Des Moines, is set to begin Sept. 22 at the Polk County Courthouse. She is accused of killing her boyfriend, 36-year-old Jerry Victor Brueggeman, of Des Moines.

Police found Brueggeman’s body in a Royal Motel room after Moses had called to report Brueggeman’s death on June 1. Investigators say Moses’ version of events did not match surveillance footage and witness statements. Police say Moses strangled Brueggeman.

She is being held at the Polk County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
