Police Say Iowa City Driver Hit Cyclist, Fled Scene

An Iowa City man is accused of hitting a cyclist and fleeing the scene.

According to an Iowa City Police Department criminal complaint, at 10:04 p.m. Wednesday, 24-year-old Corey J. Marin hit a cyclist with his Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Burlington and Gilbert streets. Marin then left the scene of the accident.

Witnesses were able to get Marin’s license plate information and police were able to reach Marin. Police said Marin admitted to hitting the cyclist and leaving the scene of the collision. He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident.
