IOWA CITY, Iowa — An Iowa City man is accused of dealing crack cocaine.

According to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office criminal complaints, an informant working with the county’s drug task force met with 25-year-old Donte T. Kent at his home at 2742 Triple Crown Lane, Unit 8, on July 23. Police said Kent sold the informant seven plastic bags of crack cocaine weighing 2.9 grams for $300 in pre-serialized bills. Kent was later found in possession of the cash used in the transaction, police said.

Police then executed a search warrant at Kent’s residence, discovering 2.81 grams of crack cocaine, two digital scales and two weapons — a loaded black handgun and a loaded silver revolver. Ammunition was found in a bag that also contained Kent’s clothes.

Kent has been arrested and faces two counts of controlled substance violation, a Class C felony; and possession of firearm as a felon. Kent is a felon in Illinois, police said.
