Five Iowa City Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance checks

    Five Iowa City businesses failed alcohol compliance checks conducted on Friday.

    The businesses that sold to the underage people working with police were:

    The Iowa City Eagles Club, 225 Highway 1 W.

    Colonial Lanes, 2253 Old Highway 218 S.

    Bread Garden Market, 225 S. Linn St.

    Cactus, 245 S. Gilbert St.

    Iron Hawk, 122 E. Washington St.

    Twenty-three other businesses checked Friday passed the compliance checks, according to police. Selling alcohol to a minor is a simple misdemeanor, punishable by a $500 fine for the first offense. All violations are also passed along to the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
