IOWA CITY, Iowa For the second time this month, an Iowa City man has been arrested for indecent exposure.
Around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a witness reported seeing 53-year-old Gerald Meyer in the area of Riverside Drive and Grove Street with no pants. An officer responded and located another witness who also said they saw Meyer touching himself in the area of Park Road and Templin Drive, according to an Iowa City Police criminal complaint.
The suspect description matched that of Meyer, who is known to police for previous incidents, police said.
Police searched the area and found Meyer standing in front of his apartment building on Ellis Avenue. He had no pants on, police said. Meyer was arrested on a single charge of indecent exposure.
Meyer was arrested for indecent exposure on July 13 in Iowa City after two witnesses saw him laying nude on a picnic table in Ryerson’s Woods Park, which is located just south of Iowa City. Meyer was touching himself while laying on the table, police said.
Indecent exposure is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. Meyer has a lengthy criminal history in Iowa. In addition to his indecent exposure charges, he has been convicted of numerous drug and driving while barred offenses.
