Former Dubuque School Board Member Gets Probation

  • Photo

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) A former Dubuque school board member has been given two years of probation for getting into an argument with a bus driver in a country club parking lot.

The Telegraph Herald reports Dubuque District Court Senior Judge Lawrence Fautsch sentenced 51-year-old George A. Davis on Wednesday to probation with a deferred judgment.

Davis entered Alford pleas to misdemeanor charges of third-degree criminal mischief and trespassing. The plea means the defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction.

Davis was accused in October 2012 of pounding on the hood of a bus at the Dubuque Golf & Country Club. He entered the bus to confront the driver because he believed it was parked in his way. He later apologized for the incident.
