DUBUQUE, Iowa — For the second time in less than two weeks another Dubuque woman says a man randomly attacked her on her back porch.

On Sunday May 25th, a middle-aged woman says a man tried to rape here in her garage near the corner of 16th and Jackson Streets.

On Wednesday, a woman who lives just two blocks away says a man randomly assaulted her with a knife. Ashley Schaefer, 23, says she was smoking a cigarette on her back porch around 3 a.m. when a man walked on to her porch and attacked her. Schaefer says the man banged her head off the side of the house and cut her with a knife.

Schaefer says she punched the man several times and kicked him in the groin before he ran away

Schaefer said, “All in all I got really lucky. I don’t consider myself a victim because I fought back and got away. I am still here and I am still kicking. “

Dubuque police say the suspect descriptions in the two incidents do not match, but add that also isn’t enough to rule out a connection between the two attacks.
