Two Sent to Hospital After Linn County Motorcycle Crash

LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Linn County Sheriff’s deputies and first responders from Central City and Center Point responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Sawyer Road near Drexler Road at 3:23 Sunday afternoon.

Deputies say a motorcycle driven by Jon Lynn Robertson, 65, of Central City, was driving east on Sawyer Road when he didn’t make a left hand curve in the road, sending he and a passenger into the east ditch, where the motorcycle overturned.

A helicopter took Robertson to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for serious injuries. His passenger, 46-year-old Corrina Smith of Alburnett, was taken to St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office says neither rider was wearing a helmet and the crash is still under investigation.
