WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa — The Iowa State Patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of a crash west of Washington.
Authorities say a pickup and car crashed on G38 west of Kiwi Avenue, which is about two miles outside the city.
A crash report from the State Patrol says a Dodge Ram driven by Timothy Milligan, of Montrose, was driving west of G38 and attempted to turn around in the road. A Ford Mustang driven by Craig Bartholomew, of Washington, was also westbound when the truck started its turn.
Troopers say the front of the Mustang hit the front of the truck, and both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the south side of G38.
46-year-old Dennis Albright, of Washington, was a passenger in the car and died in the crash. The 37-year-old Bartholomew was injured and taken to Washington Hospital.
Aircare took one of Milligan’s passengers to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he also went in an ambulance. A third person from the pickup went to Washington Hospital. All three are 21 years old.
The State Patrol says three juveniles were in car seats in the pickup and were also taken to area hospitals.
