Four hurt in Clayton County rollover

  • Photo

CLAYTON COUNTY A rollover of a utility task vehicle sent four people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

A crash report from the Iowa State Patrol says 19-year-old Colton Wegmann was driving a 2012 Polaris Ranger XP 800 across a farm pasture between Strawberry Point and Edgewood when he lost control after going over several cow paths.

Troopers say he lost control, causing the utility task vehicle (UTV) to flip and roll until coming to rest on the passenger side.

Wegmann was traveling with two 17-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy. The crash report says the Ranger came with seat belts, but they were not used and Wegmann was the only one who was not ejected during the crash.

One of the girls was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Lifeguard as a precaution after being knocked out. The three others went to Manchester Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The report estimated the crash did $2500 in damage to the vehicle.
