I-380 Reopened Following Rush Hour Crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — A crash Wednesday evening slowed traffic heading north on Interstate 380.

The Iowa Department of Transportation said the right lane was closed at 6:25 p.m. between the Penn Street exit, mile marker four, and the exit for Swisher and Shueyville, which is mile marker 10.

Newsline 9 callers said the crash happened between a truck towing a boat and a car, which separated the boat from the pickup. Most of the debris ended up in the ditch off to the side of the interstate.

The interstate was reopened to traffic just before 7:30 p.m.

This is the second time in the same week drivers had less than a smooth evening commute on I-380. A car fire on Monday caused slowing in both directions just north of the interchange with Interstate 80.
