Car Fire Slows Evening Rush Hour Traffic on Interstate 380

By Max Walker, KCRG-TV9

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — A car on fire during the evening commute backed up traffic on Interstate 380 for several miles.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says a car on fire on the shoulder caused curiosity slowing near mile marker number 2.

Authorities said no injuries were reported and firefighters were able to put out the flames, which started because of a mechanical issue.

Iowa Department of Transportation cameras showed traffic backing up past the Penn Street exit in North Liberty.
