DUBUQUE, Iowa — A program at bridal shops around the country meant one member of the armed forces in Dubuque spent Sunday picking out a wedding dress without having to worry about the price tag.

Operation Wedding Gown is run by Brides Across America, which picked Staff Sgt. Dawn Butler for its initiative at Zazou’s Bridal Boutique.

Butler couldn’t believe the selection that was at her fingertips.

“Oh my goodness they are beautiful. The selection they have offered, I would have never imagined having a dress like this,” she said.

Butler has served in the Iowa National Guard for the past ten years, and met her fiance while serving in Afghanistan.

Right now, she is working on earning her teaching degree from the University of Dubuque.

She will get married after she graduates in December 2015.
