CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Police on Friday night were investigating a report of shots fired in a southeast Cedar Rapids neighborhood.

Police said it happened around 8:30 Friday night on 16th Street Southeast, between 4th Avenue Southeast and Bever Avenue Southeast.

Police on scene confirmed there were several shots fired, but would not say how many. They also would not say if anyone was hurt.

Officers took several young people into custody and cordoned off 16th Street for several hours. At one time there were as many as 11 CRPD vehicles and a mobile command center on scene.

Just before 10:00 p.m., a SWAT team entered a house that police had taped off. They would not say if someone was inside the house or why the SWAT team had been called in.

About 45 minutes later, officers began taking down the crime scene tape.
