CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -A Cedar Rapids man is facing charges after bullets hit two homes in the southeast part of the city.
Police say they heard multiple gunshots about 8:15 Friday night in the 300 block of 16th Street Southeast. That’s between 4th Avenue and Bever Avenue.
Police say neighbors pointed to a Nissan Maxima with one person inside who they said was involved in the shots fired.
Officers say they determined bullets had hit two houses, but no people were injured.
Police say they found a loaded semiautomatic handgun and crack cocaine in the Maxima, and arrested the occupant.
Marcus Lee Wilson, 23, is charged with two counts of intimidation with a weapon and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Police Chief Wayne Jerman says information from residents and neighbors was critical to the arrest.
So without that cooperation and information from witnesses and residents, we don’t know what could have happened, Jerman said.
He says other arrests and charges are possible once the investigation is complete.
