JANESVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Photos of Iowa veterans killed in the Vietnam War will be on display in a Waterloo museum.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the pictures will be on display in a permanent Vietnam exhibit in the Grout Museum District. They’ll also be shown in a 50th anniversary exhibit.
Vietnam veteran Tom Brickman and his daughter Shari Kirkpatrick collected the pictures in a two-year project. Brickman says he came up with the idea after visiting a traveling exhibit about Vietnam in Iowa. He says he believes it’s important for photos of veterans to be displayed with their names and stories.
Brickman says in his photo quest, he learned for the first time that some men he served with had been killed on duty.
