LINN COUNTY, Iowa — The Linn County Sheriff’s Office reports a passer-by rescued a man who was trapped underneath a lawn mower Tuesday evening.

Crews responded to the 5200 block of North Alburnett Road at 5:43 p.m. for a report that a man was driving a lawn mower when it rolled and trapped him. When they arrived, the driver of the mower 54-year-old Barry Woodson was sitting on the edge of the road. The mower had rolled over and was setting in the ditch nearby.

A passer-by was able to free Woodson before emergency crews arrived. Deputies say Woodson was trapped under the mower for a significant amount of time, but didn’t detail how long he was trapped.

Woodson was transported to St. Lukes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The rollover accident remains under investigation.
