Passenger Injured in I-380 Rollover

  • Photo

BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa — The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office reports a passenger of a single vehicle rollover crash was hospitalized Tuesday night with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies responded to the crash near mile marker 56 on southbound Interstate 380 around 11:35 p.m. When they arrived they found a Nissan Altima resting on its top in the west ditch. The passenger and driver from the car were both able to free themselves, but the passenger was taken to Covenant Medical Center to be treated for injuries.

The driver, 21-year-old Kelsey Schroeder of Cedar Rapids was apparently driving south when she swerved to avoid a deer carcass on the highway and lost control. Officials have not released the passenger’s name.
