CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A shooting damaged a car in southeast Cedar Rapids early Monday morning in a section of town now familiar with gunfire.
Cedar Rapids police say shots hit a car in the 300 block of 17th Street SE around 1:30 am Monday. No one was hurt in the shooting but officers found six shell casings at the scene.
Police aren't sure yet if a vehicle pursuit that ended around the same time near the intersection of Bever Ave. and 34th Street SE is related to the shooting.
The shots rang out in an area of town already familiar with gunfire this year. In April, two people were killed in a shooting just a block away, in the 1700 block of 4th Avenue SE. In May, someone fired shots two blocks away, near the intersection of 15th Street and Bever Ave. SE twice in just three days.
Police have not made any arrests in this latest shooting.
