MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa — The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility went under restricted movement status Wednesday as corrections officials investigate a potential threat.
Executive Officer Andrea Wright says the status was made for the safety of prisoners and staff but was not related to any incident at the facility. Wright said officers received information of a potential security threat and issued the restricted movement status while they investigate. Wright declined to elaborate on the nature of the threat until the investigation is complete.
Restricted movement status suspends all visits and volunteers to the facility and confines prisoners to certain areas of the facility.
The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility houses up to 494 medium and minimum security inmates with 107 staff members.
