IOWA CITY — Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks toured the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City today. She’s running again for Iowa’s Second District US House seat.

She toured the hospital with Ann Wagner from Missouri and Diane Black from Tennessee. They’re both Republican congresswomen.

Miller-Meeks said she’s pleased with how the Iowa City VA is serving veterans.

But she said the bureaucracy surrounding the whole VA system needs to change after allegations came out in June of mismanagement and long wait times at some facilities around the country.

Miller-Meeks lost to Dave Loebsack in both the 2008 and 2010 Congressional elections.

Thursday afternoon, Loebsack announced he would speak at the VA Health Care System Mental Health Summit in Coralville.
