A man has been arrested by Cedar Rapids police and charged with driving with a suspended license, after officers say he hit a teenager with his vehicle and left the scene.

Authorities were sent to the intersection of 42nd Street and Center Point Road Northeast just after 3 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy unconscious. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police said he was crossing Center Point Road from east to west, when he was hit by a Nissan minivan making a left turn onto Center Point Road.

Police said the driver, 44-year-old Robert Coover, Junior, left the scene, but called in the crash from a parking lot near the Hy-Vee Drugstore at Blairs Ferry Road and Center Point Road. He was arrested. Additional charges are possible.
