BLUE GRASS, Iowa — The Blue Grass Police Department responded to a robbery at the Casey's General Store at 301 East Mayne Street Wednesday night. Police say at 9:55 p.m. a man wearing dark clothing entered the store, walked to the counter, picked up the cash register and ran out the door. An employee at the Casey's did suffer minor injuries when they tried to run for safety during the robbery.
People in the area saw the man running from the scene and get into a red van. One person even followed the van in their own vehicle until officials caught up with them.
Police put out a call to surrounding towns, and a Muscatine County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the van traveling southbound on Highway 61. The deputy pulled the van over for a traffic stop in Muscatine and the driver was taken into custody.
Officials aren't releasing the man's name, but they say he is being held in the Scott County Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond. He is being charged with Robbery in the Second Degree which is a class c felony.
