DAVENPORT (AP) — Officials say a lake in a rural, eastern Iowa county is set to officially open just in time for Labor Day weekend.
Fisheries biologist Chad Dolan with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says some public access areas at the lake will open Friday in Scott County. He says some kayakers and fishing enthusiasts have already tested out the waters in the new wildlife area.
The Quad-City Times reports Dolan expects full access at the lake to be available next year so long as there’s normal rainfall during the winter and spring.
Dolan says Lost Grove is 15 to 17 feet short of being a full lake.
