NEW YORK — Kraft Foods is recalling 260 cases of Velveeta cheese sold to Wal-Mart stores in 12 states — Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The consumer package code for the recalled batch is 021000611614. The packages also have a date stamp that reads “17 DEC 2014,” and the time frame is between 10:54 and 14:35.
Kraft said it is recalling the cheese because it did not contain “appropriate levels of sorbic acid” needed for preserving the product.
Consumers who purchased a recalled product should return it to the Wal-Mart where they bought it for an exchange or full refund. They can also call Kraft’s customer relations number at 800-310-3704.
