CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa The first 1,000 fans through the gates at Veterans Memorial Stadium Friday night will get their very own Bruce Aune bobblehead.
It is the first giveaway night of the year for the Kernels, who will continue to give away other promotional items every Friday night for the rest of the season.
The Bruce Aune bobbleheads are already proving to be a big hit with fans. Phones have been ringing at the Kernels offices with people asking about the souvenirs. The bobblehead features a 1980s era Bruce with a mustache and red suit much like Ron Burgundy from the hit movie Anchorman.
Aune will be at Friday night’s game, throwing out the first pitch and signing autographs during the third inning. Aune has been with KCRG-TV9 for more than 28 years now and has become an Eastern Iowa icon.
If you’d like to pick up a commemorate Bruce Aune bobblehead, there are still tickets available to watch the Kernels take on the Peoria Chiefs. he game starts at 6:35 p.m., the gates open at 5:30 p.m. Plan to Arrive early if you want to get a bobblehead, though, as people are expected to start lining up as early as 5 p.m.
