CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Transportation said Tuesday work to repair Highway 151 in Fairfax could start as soon as Wednesday.
A section of the highway over Cross Creek in Fairfax was washed out during flash flooding on June 30.
Spokesperson Catherine Cutler says the contract specifies work must finish 12 calendar days after beginning and must start by Thursday, putting completion at the latest around July 21 or 22. The contract also contains incentives, meaning the contractor will make more money the earlier work finishes.
The DOT estimates the repairs will cost around $300,000.
