IOWA CITY, Iowa — The President of the Iowa City school board resigned abruptly Tuesday night, just hours after making a public appearance.
Sally Hoelscher announced the resignation via an email Tuesday night, prompting tweets from other board members about it. Hoelscher has been on the school board since 2011 and was elected president just last year.
Hoelscher has not publicly given a reason for her sudden resignation. She had appeared at a groundbreaking for a new Iowa City elementary school earlier Tuesday.
