Iowa City Police Investigate Shots Fired on Ped Mall

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa City Police are investigating a shots fired incident on the Ped Mall. Officials say it happened just after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday near The Union Bar.

Police say someone fired several shots into the air. They later found a black male juvenile in a white shirt with a loaded pistol about 2 blocks south of where the gunshots were fired. Police say he admitted to firing the shots. The juvenile was charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm, Carrying Weapons, Going Armed with Intent, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.

Witnesses say another black male wearing dark clothing was also seen running from the area at the time of the shooting, but no other arrests have been made.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Police are investigating.
