INDEPENDENCE, Iowa — Employees at the Pizza Ranch at 1900 First Street West reported an armed robbery to police around 10:44 p.m. Wednesday. A release from the police department describes the suspect as a white male, about 5’ 9” tall and between 20 and 30 years old. Workers told police he had a slender build and was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, bluejeans and black rubber gloves.

Officers say the suspect also had a revolver, possibly a .38 caliber, when he confronted an employee and pointed the gun at her while demanding the bank deposit bag. The witness said he left on foot toward Rush Park Trailer Park.

Police searched the area, but didn’t find the suspect or other items.

Investigators said they were still working to figure out how much money the suspect took.
