CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - More than 300 people *ept stepping ahead to push for a cure to Multiple Sclerosis at Kirkwood Community College Saturday.
Kris Abbott walked in the event. He was diagnosed with the disease 3 years ago. He and his family have participated in the walk ever since.
His mother, Nita, said the day shows them the level of support to battle the disease. Something she said helped her get through Kris’ diagnosis.
It’s heartbreaking. You don’t want to see your child have to go through that. You just don’t think it’ll happen to your kid. And it not only affects him, but it affects you know, his whole family, she said.
This walk was just one of 33 that are happening all across the upper Midwest this year. Combined, the walks are expected to raise more than $2 million dollars for MS research.
