DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A new trial date has been scheduled for a man accused of fatally shooting another man in the northwest Des Moines suburb of Grimes.

The Des Moines Register says the trial is set to begin March 2 for 26-year-old David Moffitt, of Pleasant Hill. The date was changed Thursday at a pretrial conference in Polk County District Court. His trial originally was set to begin on Aug. 25.

Moffitt is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 30-year-old Justin Michael. Officers found Michael on May 8 when they were sent to the Grimes home to check a report about a shooting.
