WATERLOO, Iowa — The Cedar Bend Humane Society unveiled the new van today.
Leaders at the humane society plan on increasing adoptions and holding educational programs with this mobile.
It took about a year to complete and help from several grants from area groups like the Black Hawk County Gaming Association.
“We have a lot of adoption animals here. A lot of people come to our shelter but we also know there’s areas out there in the community that maybe they aren’t going to come to our shelter, so if we can take animals off-site and offer them available out in the community, that should help save a lot more animals and get them into new homes,” Kristy Gardner, co-director of the Cedar Bend Humane Society, said.
In addition to off-site adoptions, leaders at the Humane Society also plan on hosting educational programs.
Karla Beckman, co-director of the Cedar Bend Humane Society said, “We’re always there to educate and if they have any questions about the Humane Society, hopefully we’re able to answer their questions out in their community.”
?In honor of Adopt-a-Cat Month, adopting a cat from now until the end of June at the shelter only costs $35.
