OTTUMWA, Iowa - Funeral Services are set for Sunday for a Marine who died in combat in Afghanistan Friday, June 20. The funeral for Lance Cpl. Adam Wolff, 25, was one of three marines who died in Afghanistan June 20 in Helmand province. He was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. According to the Ottumwa Courier, the Marine Corps had just promoted him from lance corporal to corporal. He had joined the Marines in December 2012 and had just deployed in March.
The Patriot Guard will escort Wolff’s casket from the Eastern Iowa Airport to Ottumwa for funeral services. They say officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department will join that escort. Wolff’s brother is an officer with the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
His funeral will start at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bridge View Center in Ottumwa with a burial to follow at Fiedler Cementary. Visitation is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home.
Wolff’s obituary says he was a 2006 graduate of Cardinal High School. After high school, he worked at Casey’s General Store and A&W Restaurant. The obituary also said he liked to spend time outside with his siblings.
