LISBON, Iowa — Firefighters from three Linn County departments responded to a fire at 115 South Jackson St. in Lisbon after 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Fire Chief Joe Long says firefighters were on the scene for about two hours fighting a home fire.

A preliminary investigation indicates a bird’s nest on top of an exterior light caught fire and spread to the attic above. From there, the fire moved to the back and side of the house.

Long estimates it did about $15,000 in damage, despite the fire remaining mostly on the exterior.

The Red Cross is assisting the family with finding another place to stay, which could last through clean and remodeling.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said early Wednesday morning no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
