Family-run golf course to close in Clear Lake

Associated Press

CLEAR LAKE (AP) — After more than 30 years, this will be the last summer of golf at Arrowhead Golf Course in Clear Lake.

The Sherman family has been leasing the property, but they tell the Mason City Globe Gazette that the land’s owners won’t renew the contract in October.

The golf course nearly shut down last year, but the owners allowed the family to continue leasing for another year after people complained about the closure.

One of the family members says longtime customers are upset the golf course is closing.

Betty Sherman says the golf course’s forthcoming closure is “heartbreaking.”
