EnvisionCR asks for more community input on future of Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — EnvisionCR is the comprehensive plan for the city of Cedar Rapids. City leaders aren’t taking the future of Cedar Rapids into their own hands. They’re asking the community what they want to see through a series of open houses.

EnvisionCR builds on surveys and feedback from the past.

“This community has been very engaged, especially since the floods of 2008. And we have lots of great data that we started with and had lots of good ideas already from the community,” Interim Director of Community Development Jennifer Pratt said Thursday morning. “So we really are taking those, confirming them, that we’re on the right track, and then also then exploring new opportunities as well.”

KCRG-TV9’s Nicole Agee sat down with Pratt this morning to talk about EnvisionCR. There will be two open houses on Wednesday, August 27. The first starts at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Rapids Public Library. The second starts at 4:30 p.m. at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. If you can’t make it to the open house, the new plan will be available at cityofcr.com/comprehensiveplan
