Dubuque Counselor Sentenced to Probation for Abuse
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) A Dubuque mental health counselor who admitted to abusing a dependent adult has been sentenced to one year of probation.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports that 69-year-old Lowell Routley was sentenced last week after he pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor dependent adult abuse. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors reduced his charge from a felony.
Court documents say between November 2010 and October 2012, Routley withdrew funds for personal use from the special-needs trust fund of a patient. He reimbursed the account for some purchases.
In May, Routley’s counseling license was placed under probation for two years.
