Domestic Dispute Leads to Stabbing at Waterloo Hotel

WATERLOO, Iowa — Waterloo Police say a domestic dispute led one person to be hospitalized with stab wounds early Wednesday morning. Officers responded to the Motel 6 at 2343 Logan Avenue around midnight.

Police say an Illinois woman stabbed Patrick Shurtleff, 61, of Alpha in the arm with a knife. The injury was described as non-life threatening. Officers arrested Shurtleff at the scene on a domestic assault charge. They say he had tried strangling the woman. She told police that she was Shurtleff’s wife after the incident.
