DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines man has been charged in the death of his father, accused of delivering the blows that killed the older man.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/1kbEEL7 ) that 18-year-old Gabriel Michael Johnson was charged Wednesday with involuntary manslaughter. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison.
Police say Johnson’s father, 54-year-old Bert Edward Johnson Jr. was arguing with his son’s mother on April 25. Police say Gabriel Johnson believed his father would hit his mother, so Gabriel Johnson had friend restrain his father while he punched the older man several times in the chest and torso.
Bert Johnson went home, but awoke the next morning feeling ill. Police say he went to a hospital April 26, where he died the next day.
