CLARKSVILLE, Iowa — People living in the small Butler County community of Clarksville felt the full power of Monday night’s storm.

Wind gusts knocked over trees, power lines and damaged some homes outside of town.

Many roads were blocked with tree limbs inside city limits. Crews were already out late Monday night and early Tuesday morning clearing paths for cars and people through city streets.

Butler County Emergency Management Coordinator Mitch Nordmeyer said darkness came soon after the storm, meaning a full assessment of the damage will have to wait for the morning. He also said the National Weather Service would be in town.

For now, emergency crews asked people to avoid driving through Clarksville to see the damage to cut down on unnecessary traffic.

No injuries associated with the storm have been reported.
