Creek Cleanup Volunteers Find Body in Clive

CLIVE, Iowa (AP) — Police in a Des Moines suburb have identified the body of a man found behind a business and near a popular recreation trail.

Clive Police Chief Mike Venema says people cleaning the Greenbelt Trail in Clive on Saturday morning found the body of a man lying against a fence on the property of a business.

The Des Moines Register reports police later identified the man as 21-year-old Zachary Michael Paulsen. Police say the building near where the body was found is owned by Paulsen’s family.

They are calling the death suspicious.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has joined the investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The people who found the body were volunteering as part of an annual Walnut Creek cleanup.
