CORALVILLE, Iowa — The old Coralville City Hall building is on the move Tuesday afternoon to a new location several blocks away.
Crews are moving the building, constructed in the 1880s, to the future “Old Town” redevelopment site near the old school house on Fifth Street.
Goodwin House Moving, based in Washington, started the move around 9 a.m. Tuesday. The building should reach its destination sometime Tuesday afternoon.
There was a delay as the building was stopped under a tree at Third Avenue. As of 1:15 p.m., that issue had not been resolved, although it appears city staff will cut down some of the tree limbs.
The flatbed moving the house ran over the foot of one of the movers, police confirmed. He declined medical attention and went to the hospital with his wife.
The move has resulted in a closure of much of Fifth Street near First Avenue.
