CEDAR RAPIDS — Hundreds of pictures of Iowa military members who were killed in action are on display this week.

Bill and Yvonne Williams created the “Remembering our Fallen” exhibit to honor the more than 80 Iowans who have died in the War on Terror.

The couple plans to make one for every state and unveil a national display in Washington, D.C. in 2016.

They hope it brings awareness to the sacrifices of the American armed forces.

“That’s everybody’s concern: that they’ll be forgotten. Only half a percent [of the population] serves in the military, so most people don’t pay attention until they stand in front of the exhibit,” Bill Williams said.

The project is free and will be on display inside the Veterans Memorial Building on May’s Island in Cedar Rapids through Friday.
