Cedar Rapids Builds New Bocce Ball Court

by Ben Hoppenworth, KCRG-TV9

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - There’s a new place to play ball in Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department built a new Bocce Ball court in Bever Park on Monday morning. It is the first of its kind in the city.

The department originally planned to build the court on Friday morning, but rain pushed it back to Monday. The 8x60 foot court is located next to the Bever Pavilion and the playground at Bever Pool.

The court is open to the public on a first-come first-serve basis. It will be open at normal park hours from 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. every day.

All of the funding for the court was raised privately. The Optimist Club donated money and helped raise the $2,200 to build the court and have benches installed. A contractor donated their time to build it.
