Cedar Rapids BBQ Roundup Winners Announced

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Sunday marked the fourth and final day of the BBQ Roundup at McGrath Amphitheatre on the western bank of the Cedar River. Seven vendors from barbecue-famous states like Texas and South Carolina brought more than 20,000 pounds of food for the event. Each was competing for top marks for best pulled pork and ribs, with a clean sweep of professional and popular votes netting a possible maximum of $3,000 in prize money.

Sunday afternoon organizers announced the winners of both the critical and people’s choice judging. Here are the results:

Best BBQ Pulled Pork First: Carolina Rib King (Moore, SC) - $1,250

Second: Porky N Beans (Port St. Lucie, FL) - $750

Third: P.H.A.T. Daddy’s (Marengo, IA) - $250

Best BBQ Ribs

First Place: Porky N Beans (Port St. Lucie, FL) - $1,250

Second: Just North of Memphis (Twin Cities, MN) - $750

Third: Johnson’s BBQ (Chesapeake, VA) - $250

People’s Choice Award

Carolina Rib King (Moore, SC) - $500
