Car Crashes Into Cedar Rapids DOT Building

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A car crashed into a Department of Transportation building in southwest Cedar Rapids Saturday morning.

It happened right off Edgewood Road on Queen Court, just north of U.S. Highway 30. That’s the new driver’s licence station that just opened in January.

Witness there say they saw the car slam through the front doors and into the building. One man said it looked like the car made it through the front doors before crashing into a wall inside.

“All I heard was the breaks squealing--or the tires squealing-- and next thing you know the car’s literally driving through the building,” said Cory Stonebraker.

No word yet on who the driver was or if anyone was hurt. Also no official information on the cost to repair the building.
