CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A crash near the Blairs Ferry Road off ramp from Interstate 380 North slowed morning traffic Friday. Officers say five people were injured but are expected to be OK.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. when a Range Rover driven by 20-year-old Martise Thomas turned west off the ramp onto Blairs Ferry Road and ran through a red light. A Toyota RAV4 traveling east on Blairs Ferry Road hit the Range Rover, flipping it on its side. The intersection was closed Friday morning for about a half hour, but was mostly back open by 8:15 a.m.
Martise, his three passengers and the other driver went to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Police cited Martise for no insurance and failure to obey a traffic control device.
