CEDAR RAPIDS — The yearly closing of the pool at Bever Park came with a bark Sunday. The event helps raise money for K9 Citizens for Off-Leash Areas, known as K9 OLA, which the group puts toward projects in dog parks around town.
“We do have a couple of projects in mind,” said organization chairman Marie Appel. “We’d like to get a pavilion out at K9 Acres and a kiosk up in both parks so we can let people know when we’re doing events.”
Owners paid around $13 to let their dog loose in the pool this weekend. A portion of the proceeds also goes toward the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department.
