DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — At least a half-dozen people have been rescued after their boat overturned on the Mississippi River near Dubuque.
Nate Johnson with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the incident occurred Saturday.
At least three other boats went to help the people from the overturned vessel, including the Spirit of Dubuque paddle-wheeler.
Walt Webster is co-owner of the Spirit of Dubuque, and he says his crew has practiced pulling people out of the river. He says Saturday’s incident was the crew’s first actual rescue operation.
